How To Remove Nail Glue From Skin

I really enjoy beautiful nail art, after all, it looks so perfect and absolutely pretty for styling on different occasions with all the temporary flexibilities. However, the process indeed takes a lot of patience. Moreover, you get to know the real work of when you have to figure out the ways of removing nail glue from skin.  

And so after trying a lot of ways, I have gathered so much knowledge on the subject that I thought to help others as well to make the process easy. Afterall, everything that looks tough is not always a rocket science, 

So, here I will be talking about safely peeling off the glue from skin without damaging your hands or nails.

How Can You Get Nail Glue Off Your Skin? 

Given below are a few tried and tested methods to get off the nail glue off your skin without hurting your skin:

1) ACETONE BASED NAIL POLISH REMOVER

What You’ll Need

  • Cotton balls
  • Acetone based nail paint remover

Method/ Directions

  • Take a cotton ball and apply the nail paint remover on it.
  • Now, rub the cotton ball on the areas that have got excess glue.
  • Let the remover stay on the affected area for a couple of minutes, then rub it off with the cotton ball.
  • Apply moisturizer or petroleum jelly afterwards to prevent the skin for drying.

NOTE: Do not use acetone nail paint remover on damaged skin as it cause dryness and irritation on the skin. Also, apply oil or an intense moisturizer to the area afterwards to keep the dryness from the remover at bay. 

2) VASELINE OR PETROLEUM JELLY

If you have dried nail glue on your skin, using petroleum jelly with quickly remove it without irritating the skin. 

What You’ll Need 

  • Petroleum jelly/Vaseline
  • Water
  • Soap

Method/ Directions

  • Take some petroleum jelly on your fingers and apply it on the area with dried glue.
  • Massage the area for a few minutes until the glue starts softening. 
  • Then, remove the glue from the skin carefully without pulling.
  • Now, watch the area with soap and water.
  • Moisturize the area with Vaseline.

3. RUBBING ALCOHOL

What You’ll Need 

  • Alcohol
  • Cotton
  • A bowl with soap and water
  • Toothbrush

Method/ Directions

  • Soak your hand in the bowl with warm soapy water for a minute or two. 
  • Cover your nails with cotton securely.
  • Take a bowl of alcohol and put your fingers in it. Soak for at least 15 minutes.
  • Take your fingers out, remove the cotton on nails.
  • If you still see any glue on your fingers, dip the toothbrush in alcohol and rub it on the affected area gently
  • Then, wash your hands with soap and water and moisturize.  

4. LOTION

You can use any of your trusted hand lotions to remove the nail glue. 

What You’ll Need 

  • Hand lotion/moisturizer
  • Soap and water

Method/ Directions

  • Take some hand lotion or moisturizer and apply it on the areas affected by the nail glue.
  • Rub it on the area until you notice the glue start to soften and come off.
  • Then wash your hands with soap and water.
  • Moisturize your hands.

5) SOAP AND WATER 

What You’ll Need 

  • Soap
  • Water
  • Moisturizer

Method/ Directions

  • Take a bowl with lukewarm, soapy water in it.
  • Soak your hands in the bowl for at least 15 minutes to soften the glue.
  • Take your hands out and peel off the glue softly. 
  • Apply moisturizer to prevent dryness. 

NOTE: do not use a hard soap; take a mild soap that doesn’t cause too much dryness or irritation to the skin.

6) PUMICE STONE 

What You’ll Need 

  • Pumice
  • A bowl of soap and water

Method/ Directions

  • Keep your fingers soaked in the warm soapy water.
  • Then put the stone into the bowl and rub the area with glue carefully and in a circular motion to remove the glue.
  • Moisturize your hands afterwards.

How To Care For Your Skin After Removing Nail Glue

Once you have cleaned your hands of the nail glue, here is how you can take care of your skin:

  • Wash your hands with soap and water
  • Make sure that there isn’t any glue left on the skin.
  • Moisturize your hands properly with a moisturizer or coconut oil afterwards to prevent them from getting drying and irritated.
  • You can also use cuticle oil to moisturize the cuticles.
