How to Make Your Mother Feel Special this Mother’s Day

Mother’s Day is an opportunity to express your fondness and gratitude for the woman who brought you into this world (or, to the woman who’s taken to the role admirably). Mother’s Day is set to be a little bit different this year, but that doesn’t mean that you won’t be able to express those feelings you’ve been carrying around, and to really make the occasion a memorable one.

A Card

A mother’s day card is a great way to get a personal message across. You can find a blank one, and then fill the interior with what’s effectively a letter. For best results, make sure that you do a little bit of editing and planning before putting pen to card or flower store: that way you’ll know that everything you want to say will fit.

Flowers & Chocolates

The process of visiting a florist is going to be a great deal more complicated this year – as Valentine’s Day shoppers will doubtless attest. Get your order in as soon as possible, as demand is likely to be high, and capacity is likely to be found wanting. A better bet is probably a box of mother’s day chocolates; go for something posh and tasty, rather than a big box of the cheap stuff.

Give her Something to Look Forward To

Vouchers provide a means for small businesses to get by when footfall is in the gutter. They also provide you with something to look forward to in the future. Spa days, golf outings, racetrack experiences: whatever your mum’s into, there’s a day out that’ll match it.

Do Something Together

Just because you’re not going round to her house doesn’t mean that you can’t do something fun together, thanks to the magic of video-conferencing software. You might plan a day of crafts and games, or even a miniature party. At the bare minimum, it’s worth picking up the phone and touching base – she’ll be pleased to hear from you!

Make a Charitable Donation

If you really want to do some good in the world, then you might make a charitable donation on behalf of your mother. There are plenty of worthy causes out there; you might pick one that’s particularly close to your mum’s heart. On the other hand, you might make a donation to GiveWell, or a similar organisation, who’ll pick out the most
