How to make lip gloss out of crayons?

By recycling old crayons, we can make homemade lip gloss and we can play with colors and make amazing customized shades.

Materials required:

  • Non-toxic crayon (Choose your favorite color)
  • Oil (almond oil, argan oil, coconut oil, or olive oil)  – ¼ teaspoon
  • Shea butter – ½ teaspoon
  • Cosmetic glitter (optional)
  • Essential oil or extract (optional) – 1 to 2 drops

Method:

Step 1: Select a container in which you wish to store your lip gloss (you can use lens case, old chaps stick tube, empty lip balm container, empty eye shadow container, etc)

Step 2: Clean the container and dry it. Once the container is dry, wipe it using a cotton cloth. And keep it aside.

Step 3: Peel the wrapper off from the crayon and break it into small equal parts (approx 1 to 2 cms each)

Step 4: Keep the double boiler ready. (You can melt the ingredients using a double boiler or microwave; choose what is feasible for you)

Step 5: Put the crayon pieces into the bowl and wait till it melts.       

(You can choose your favorite colored crayon or you can mix several colors to get a unique shade.)

Step 6: Add Shea butter and oil of your choice (use spoon or fork or tooth pick to mix). Mix well till all the ingredients melt.

Step 7: Now add essential oil and glitters (Both the ingredients are optional).

Step 8: Carefully lift the container from the double boiler and pour the mixture into the cleaned container. (You can use a spoon to pour the mixture)

Step 9: Wait till it cools down completely.

Step 10: Apply it on your lips by using your finger, q tip, or appropriate applicator.

How to make lip gloss with Vaseline/ petroleum jelly

Material used:

  • Petroleum jelly/ Vaseline – 2 tablespoon
  • A small piece of lipstick or non toxic crayons or eye shadow.
  • Oil (almond oil, argan oil, coconut oil, or olive oil)  – ¼ teaspoon
  • Cosmetic glitter (optional)
  • Essential oil or extract (optional) – 1 to 2 drops

Method:

Step 1: Select a container in which you wish to store your lip gloss (you can use lens case, old chaps stick tube, empty lip balm container, empty eye shadow container, etc)

Step 2: Clean the container and dry it. Once the container is dry, wipe it using a cotton cloth. And keep it aside.

Step 3: Take Petroleum jelly in a bowl. (You can melt the ingredients using a double boiler or microwave).

Step 4: Cut a small piece of lipstick or crayons or eye shadow, and add it to the bowl.

Step 6: Stir the mixture well using a spoon or fork. The mixture has to be smooth; if not, heat it for some more time.

Step 7: Add almond oil and 1 to 2 drops of essential oil and mix well. (Make sure there is no lump).

(You can even add cosmetic glitters. Using essential oil and glitter is optional)

Step 8: Carefully pour the mixture into the cleaned container and wait till it hardens.

Step 9: Apply it on your lips by using your finger, q tip, or appropriate applicator.

How to make lip gloss with coconut oil

Coconut oil on lips overnight is ideal if you wish to have a clear and soft lip. Read on to know how to make lip gloss with coconut oil.

  • Petroleum jelly – 1 teaspoon
  • Coconut oil- 1 teaspoon
  • Essential oil or vanilla extract – 1 to 2 drops
  • Almond oil –  4 to 5 drops

Method:

Step 2: Clean the container and dry it. Once the container is dry, wipe it using a cotton cloth. And keep it aside.

  • Carnauba wax – ½ tablespoon

Step 1: Melt the coconut oil and carnauba wax in a pan (You can use double boiler or microwave).

Step 2: Wait till the mixture cools a little. Then add Aloe Vera gel and mix well

Step 3: Pour the mixture into a clean container in which you wish to store it and wait till it hardens

Coconut oil and petroleum jelly lip balm:

Material required:

  • Coconut oil – 1/2 teaspoon
  • Petroleum jelly (Vaseline) – 1 tablespoon

Method:

Step 1: Melt Petroleum jelly and coconut oil in a pan (You can use double boiler or microwave) and mix well.

Step 2: Pour the mixture into a clean container in which you wish to store it and wait till it cools down.

Coconut oil and vanilla lip balm

Material required:

  • Coconut oil – 1 tablespoon
  • Carnauba wax – 1 tablespoon
  • Vanilla extract – ½ teaspoon

Method:

Step 1: Melt the coconut oil and carnauba wax in a pan (You can use double boiler or microwave). Add vanilla extract and mix well.

Step 2: Pour the mixture into a clean container in which you wish to store it and freeze it for about 20 minutes.
