  • Injury to the face or skull fracture.

  • While having food, if you chew at one side of the mouth more than the other then there are chances of you having a lopsided smile.
  • While taking on the phone, if you have a tendency of using one ear every time, then that side of your mouth is mostly higher than the other side.

How to fix a crooked smile?

We all know that exercises are good for our body, but did you know that exercises are good for our face and smile?

Like other parts of our body, even our face has muscles. Regular exercise helps in strengthening and firming these facial muscles.

Facial exercise and yoga help to have a perfect smile. It also helps in making you look healthier and younger.

There are various effective exercises and face yoga which helps in fixing a crooked smile. These exercises or yoga are so very easy that anyone can do it without any assistance. Try it out..

  1. Saying “eeeeeeeeeee” followed by “ooooooooooooo”

Method:

  • When you are saying “eeeeeeee”, keep an exaggerated smile. Stretch it as much as you can; do it as if you are trying to touch the corner of your lips to your ears. Hold this position for 15 to 20 seconds.

  • When saying “oooooooo”, push the lips all the way forward. Tighten the lips like you are trying to whistle. Hold this position for 15 to 20 seconds.
  • Repeat it for at least 10 times. Soon you will start noticing the improvement in your smile.
  • Fish face

Method:

  • Such in your cheeks till they are close enough to touch each other (like a fish face).
  • Move your lips up and down.
  • Repeat it for at least 10 times.
  • Smile like a silly rabbit

Method:

  • Without opening your lips, smile as wide as you can (ear to ear grin)
  • Now wiggle your nose like a rabbit.
  • Hold the pose for 5 seconds.
  • Repeat this exercise for about 10 times.
  • Pencil behind canine teeth

Method:

  • Take a pencil or pen (it should have an even surface) and place it behind your canine teeth.
  • Turn your head to one side and then turn to the other side (left – right – repeat).
  • Now look up and then down (move your head, not the eyes).
  • Repeat this exercise for about 4 to 5 times.
  • This exercise helps in correcting the movement of the muscle present in your face.
  • Smile and move your tongue from left to right – exercise

Method:

  • Smile and show your upper teeth. (Note: just the upper teeth, and not the lower one)
  • Put your tongue out.
  • Move your tongue from left corner to right corner of your lips.
  • Repeat this exercise for about 4 to 5 times.
  • Try doing this exercise before the mirror, because the upper teeth should always be shown. Only then this exercise will be effective.
  • Spoon in mouth exercise (you can even use a pen or a pencil)

Method:

  • Take a spoon. Hold the handle of the spoon between your lips. (Do not fold your lips inwards as shown in the below picture)
  • Try to rise the spoon upward
  • Now smile by holding the spoon up
  • Hold in this position for 5 to 10 seconds
  • Relax for 10 seconds (Do not remove the spoon from your mouth)
  • Repeat this exercise for about 10 times.
  • Clown face exercise

Method:

  • Keep your lips together and smile (a wide grin).
  • Gently push your chin downwards using one finger.
  • Keep the ear to ear smile.
  • In each step, hold for 5 seconds
  • Repeat it for 10 times.
  • Closing your mouth and pressing your lips together

Method:

  • Close your mouth.
  • Press your lips together as tight as possible
  • You can do this exercise anytime and anywhere.
  • These exercises help in improving the symmetry on your face and helps in having an even smile.
  • While practicing these exercises, sit or stand comfortably in front of the mirror.
  • Keep your face relaxed.
  • Breathe normally.
